How much boiled chicken can my German Shepherd puppy have as a treat?

Your puppy should be getting a puppy formulated dog food, not pasta and chicken. That is not a nutritionally balanced diet for a growing puppy, and it will not provide all the nutrients Jack will need to be healthy and grow correctly. Puppies need higher amounts of calories, protein, and calcium than adult dogs, and a puppy formulated food will provide that. Please feed him only a puppy formulated food, I recommend Royal Canin or Hill's Science diet.

Occasional treats of plain, unseasoned, boiled chicken is probably ok. However, it is best only to use in special circumstances, like during training sessions. As German Shepherd dogs are very prone to having food sensitivities and also are prone to exocrine pancreas insufficiency you should not feed him any food that is not dogfood, ie human food, treats, etc. The best is to feed specific puppy food for German Shepherd Dogs such as Royal Canin Maxi Puppy Dry Dog Food Royal Canin German Shepherd Puppy Dry Dog Food or similar specific complete puppy foods for large dogs. Yes, you can give your pup cooked chicken or meat as an occasional treat. I would boil the chicken or meat as that's the healthiest way to give it to your pup. Too much fat can lead to pancreatitis, so never give your pup pork and only lean cuts of meat :-)

Honestly the best thing you can do is feed him a complete healthy balanced already prepared dry diet that contains the right amount of protein. As a general rule, I always recommend the diet be predominantly a commercial dog or cat food to ensure your puppy and kitten are getting all the essential vitamins and minerals they need. If you want to add some plain boiled chicken to their diet as a treat that should be fine. Just keep in mind that only about 10% of their diets should come from treats. The other 90% should come from a complete and balanced diet.
