How much and how often to feed a 5-month-old pitbull mix puppy?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 28 lbs

I adopted a 5 month pitbull mix a few days ago and he weighs about 28lbs right now. They didn't tell me how much to feed him so I have been googling it and feeding him accordingly but I figured this would be a better option. He is eating a grain free food where Turkey is the #1 ingredient. How much should I feed him and how many times per day?

As young dogs vary in their activity level I adjust the amount depending on Coso. If he is ravenous at each meal you are not feeding enough. I gradually increase the amount at each feeding so he is hungry at meals and he just finishes the food. If he's starving I feed three meals daily, as he ages and slows down his growth he may not be as hungry then I feed twice daily. I recommend twice daily feeding for life and adjust the amount of food needed to keep him happy and at a normal weight. The feeding amounts on the bag are just guidelines. Hello. There is no hard set rules for this, but I would imagine you want to feed at least 1/4 - 1/2 cup of dry plus about a tablespoon of canned 3 times a day. Adjust as the puppies grow, but you really cannot overfeed a fast growing puppy. They will eat what they want, so if they leave any behind, cut back temporarily until their stomachs catch up. Rosco is a very handsome boy! Dog food is fine only for him, and feed him according to the instructions on his bag of food. That will tell you how much to feed him daily. Good question! No, you don't want to overfeed him and I agree that sounds like a lot of food! If he is not too skinny (where you can see all his ribs), then keep doing what you are doing. Those amounts on the bag of food are a range because not every dog's metabolism is the same (just like people). So, you will just have to monitor him and adjust accordingly as he gets larger.
