How much wet and dry food for 7-week-old underweight pit bull puppies?

Do not feed table scraps or human foods. Do not feed grain free foods as those can cause heart disease. Royal Canin, Hills Scoence Doet and Ians are all good brands to feed.

As young dogs vary in their activity level I adjust the amount depending on Coso. If he is ravenous at each meal you are not feeding enough. I gradually increase the amount at each feeding so he is hungry at meals and he just finishes the food. If he's starving I feed three meals daily, as he ages and slows down his growth he may not be as hungry then I feed twice daily. I recommend twice daily feeding for life and adjust the amount of food needed to keep him happy and at a normal weight. The feeding amounts on the bag are just guidelines. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Be sure that Noora has been dewormed and stool samples have been checked. Intestinal parasites can cause poor weight gain. I would deworm her even if the stool was negative. Also get her on heartworm prevention as that is also a monthly dewormer. If she eats well I would increase her food volume gradually, spread it out over 3-4 meals. If she is still not gaining consider changing brands of puppy food. I wish you the best!

If she has not been recently dewormed I would start there as worms can cause improper weight gain. How much to feed depends on what food you are feeding her. Be sure she is eating a high quality PUPPY food and follow the instructions/recommendations on how much to feed by what the packaging tells you.

Good question! No, you don't want to overfeed him and I agree that sounds like a lot of food! If he is not too skinny (where you can see all his ribs), then keep doing what you are doing. Those amounts on the bag of food are a range because not every dog's metabolism is the same (just like people). So, you will just have to monitor him and adjust accordingly as he gets larger. I usually use the rule of thumb of 1 cup per 20 pounds (~9kg). But with puppies, if they are really active and thin then they may need more. Some puppies are nibblers and don't want to eat that much and that is ok as long as he is eating, growing properly, and not too thin. I hope this helps!

The bag will tell you how much to feed him daily. Max should be fed three times a day, once in the morning, once at noon, and once in the evening. Take the daily recommend allotment of food on the bag and divide it into three equal portions.
