My dog has white spots on eye waterline after camping. Should I worry?

It's a bit difficult to tell from the picture, but it does not look like anything serious. It's likely just a spot that got bumped or irritated by something. These usually go away within a day or two. If all the white part was red and there was excessive tears, then I would be more concerned that something is continually irritating the eye and would recommend a visit to the vet for treatment. If she is otherwise appearing normal, then I think it's fine to wait a couple of days and see if this resolves on its own. I hope that helps and all is well with Millie.

This just looks like an area of inflammation in the conjunctiva. It may have developed from something irritating in the eye. At this point it’s nothing to be overly concerned about. Please check it daily, it should improve and go away in a few days. If it starts to look worse then certainly a veterinary exam is indicated. Sometimes there are changes in pigmentation in that region of the eye which are not considered abnormal especially if not bothering the patient. Good luck and have a good night!

Hi and thanks for posting on PeCoach. This looks like a minor pigmentary change in the eyelid. This is not uncommon and usually isn't a concern. If you notice the area is becoming very red, irritated, or starts spreading, then you will want to take Sky to see her veterinarian to have this evaluated.

Hello. From this picture that could be a small scar, could be a small bit of hair loss from many causes (scratching, infection, etc), could be inflammation of the gland, or could just be a wart or something. I would just keep an eye on it and if it bothers him or grows or changes, or if he starts squinting, to have it seen by a vet. Good luck with him!

What to watch for would be swelling, discharge or redness of the whites of the eye. If this happens. If you do notice this, Start by placing an e-collar or cone on Krypto to prevent scratching or rubbing. If the eye is infected it is likely painful, this will prompt Krypto to scratch or rub hia eye. However, this could inflict further damage, infection or even an ulceration. Because eye concerns with dogs, such as infections, corneal ulcerations, cataracts and glaucoma, can progress rapidly I would have him examined by your veterinarian diagnose the issue. If you notice any of the above clinical signs I mentioned. The precise medication can then be dispensed by your veterinarian. From the photo, that looks to me more like a pustule (focal little infection) than a congenital defect (something he was born with). I wonder if he may have gotten a mild injury from playing with the other pups. If it hasn't gone away by the time the pup is ready to go home with you, I would make sure the breeder has the pup evaluated by their vet prior to you picking it up, or make sure the contract includes a clause that the breeder is responsible for having the bump evaluated and addressed.
