My dog is wheezing, in pain, and not drinking. What should I do?

The hiccups were probably because Charlie was retching before he vomited. I'm concerned about him not moving much, and of he yelps he's probably in pain. I recommend taking him to the vet either tonight or first thing tomorrow to be examined. There are many possible illnesses that could present this way. Do not give human pain medicines as they're often toxic to dogs.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Alice. I recommend that she sees her veterinarian. It is worrisome that she is not eating well. She could be infected with an upper respiratory tract infection. Wheezing and an increase in reverse sneezing are both symptoms. If this is not the case, she may be painful somewhere. Her veterinarian will be able to tell based on her exam findings. In the meantime, do not give any over-the-counter pain medications as these can be toxic to dogs. I hope this information helps!

Based on the symptoms you are describing, it sounds as if Charlie is dealing with a severe respiratory disease / infection. I would strongly recommend getting Charlie in to the emergency veterinarian as soon as possible as this could potentially become fatal if not appropriately treated. The sooner he is seen the better. You can try and place him in the bathroom with the hot shower running so that he is breathing in steam and using a humidifier in the meantime while you are waiting to get to an emergency vet. Given his age and symptoms, he will need to see a vet as son as possible, it seems like he has nausea and is in severe pain, this is probably due to an internal condition and it will require some tests such as an Xray or ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong with Charlie.

It could be Charlie has some pain in his neck or back. Please do not give him any human pain medication. Many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. Rest him tonight and take him into the vet in the morning to get this diagnosed and treated. Best of luck.

Charlie sounds sick. He could have a respiratory infection or kennel cough. I'd take him into the vet today for an exam. The vet can diagnose what is causing his symptoms, and can prescribe treatment for him. Best of luck.

Hi there. While it is not abnormal for Charlie to be lethargic and behave differently when everyone leaves-this is a bit much. I would recommend taking him in to your veterinarian in case something else is going on. Pancreatitis, intoxication, and a few other diseases can start with this presentation. Shivering in dogs is often a pain response (can also be nervousness, cold, etc). If these behaviors continue I recommend taking him in as soon as you can to try to prevent it from getting worse.
