My dog is a Springer spaniel he is 9, years old. He's not been eating at all for a week, he is severely struggling to breathe , he keeps coughing and choking, he keeps falling asleep whilst sitting up, his tummy looks swollen, he keeps falling over, he seems disoriented and extremely lethargic and not himself. He also has a snotty nose, gooey eyes and keeps lifting his head really high.

Do not give Charlie any human medications without the advice of your veterinarian. Many human medications can be toxic to dogs, even in small doses.
If Charlie is overweight, cut back on food and treats. You can run a hot shower for 10-15 minutes then sit him in the steamy bathroom (NOT in the shower). The steam may loosen congestion. If you search "canine coupage" on YouTube, you can perform that technique to further loosen congestion. It's quite simple and takes only minutes.
Call your vet and discuss payment plans or alternative financing such as CareCredit (www.carecredit.com). You may also be able to obtain financial assistance through Red Rover (www.redrover.org).
