My dog is sick, in pain, slow, and won't move or drink. Help!

It could be Charlie has some pain in his neck or back. Please do not give him any human pain medication. Many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. Rest him tonight and take him into the vet in the morning to get this diagnosed and treated. Best of luck.

Hi there. While it is not abnormal for Charlie to be lethargic and behave differently when everyone leaves-this is a bit much. I would recommend taking him in to your veterinarian in case something else is going on. Pancreatitis, intoxication, and a few other diseases can start with this presentation. Shivering in dogs is often a pain response (can also be nervousness, cold, etc). If these behaviors continue I recommend taking him in as soon as you can to try to prevent it from getting worse. It is common for small breed dogs to experience neck or back pain. These dogs will typically pant, shake and be reluctant to move. They can refuse to do stairs or jump on furniture. It sounds Charlie may be experiencing at the vet least an upper or lower respiratory infection. She needs to be examined by your veterinarian, and should probably have a diagnostic x-ray performed to rule out processes like pneumonia. As far as the pain in the lower legs and belly, this may or may not be related to the other problems. Once again, a thorough physical exam will hopefully reveal the cause of Charlie's problems. If she is not drinking any water, dehydration can occur quite quickly in a 14 lb dog. I would not delay long in making a trip to the doctor. If for some reason you have to delay things, make sure you have syringe feeding liquids until you can get her there. Hope this makes sense.

Given his age and symptoms, he will need to see a vet as son as possible, it seems like he has nausea and is in severe pain, this is probably due to an internal condition and it will require some tests such as an Xray or ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong with Charlie.

It could be poor Fred is in pain. It's very concerning that he won't drink. Rest him tonight. No running, jumping, or playing. Take him out potty on a leash, and bring him right back in when he's done. If he's still acting this way in the morning, and/or if he still isn't drinking water, have him seen by a vet first thing.
