Why is my dog weak, not eating, and has a stuffy nose after puppies?

Your pet needs to be seen by a vet right away. Even with no other symptoms, extreme lethargy is very concerning. Your dog may have eaten something that disagreed with her, swallowed something that has caused an obstruction, has parasites, is coming down with some kind of infection, there are a number of possibilities. Your vet will do an exam and labwork to determine the cause of your pets symptoms and give you some treatment options based on those results.

A stuffy nose and sniffles could be a signs of an upper respiratory infection. We could also have allergies or inhalation of a foreign body into the nasal passages. If this has been going on for a few days, the safest course of action is a vet exam. The vet may need to prescribe an antibiotic or antihistamine for your pup.

It could be. As long as she continues to eat well and behave otherwise normally, I would keep an eye on her for a day or two. If she continues to be lethargic and congested beyond the next couple of days or her symptoms worsen, I would get her seen by your vet as soon as possible. If she is unvaccinated yet, there is the possibility that she was exposed to distemper or another virus.

This is very concerning as, while her vaccinations were done on time, she is not fully protected against distemper and parvo yet. Purulent discharge from her nose and eyes are concerning as they could , of course be a simple respiratory infection, but also a sign of canine distemper. Hello, sorry to hear about Star. It sounds like she may have an upper respiratory tract disease. This can be associated with a tooth root abscess, a foreign body in the nose, an infection of her upper respiratory tract, or less likely a tumor within her nose. Star should be evaluated by her veterinarian soon, especially since her appetite is decreased, so that she may have the necessary medications and diagnostics she needs. Hi there and thanks for posting. Oh dear I"m sorry to hear Lucky is not feeling well. It sounds like he has a bad upper respiratory infection that may be bacterial, viral, or maybe fungal. He may need a bacterial culture and a chest x-ray to determine what the type of upper respiratory infection he has and that will help determine what best medication to place Lucky on. This is important to do especially if his symptoms are not getting any better. The drinking a lot of water is also concerning. I would recommend blood work on Lucky to check for endocrine disorders and diabetes that could be causing the increased water intake.
