My puppy has a stuffy nose but is perky. Should I see a vet?

This sign could be compatible with an upper respiratory tract inflammation/infection or possibly to a chronic rhinitis (inflammatory, allergic, infective). This is usually treated with antibiotics. I recommend that you have your pup evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. It is really not common for dogs to have a stopped up nose with allergies. Usually it is the opposite - the nose will run with clear liquid. If she is stopped up she probably has an upper respiratory infection which is much more serious. She really should see a vet for this tomorrow. Remember, she is a baby and only 3 pounds - she is very fragile and you should not let her be sick too long before getting her help. There are no over the counter medications you can give to a dog this small. Dosing her appropriately would be impossible. She needs to see a vet.

From your description it sounds as Mookie is suffering from an upper respiratory infection. in most cases these type of infection are not too severe, but because of his young age it would be wise to to the vet to get it checked as he might need a course of antibiotics and possibly some cough medications as well.

Poor Nova! I am sorry to hear that she is not feeling well. It sounds as though Nova may have an upper respiratory infection. She should definitely be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible, especially since she is so young. Because she is a puppy her immune system is not completely developed making her more susceptible to illness. We want to make sure that a veterinarian evaluates her before her symptoms progress, as it is much easier on all parties involved to get her symptoms under control early rather than waiting until she is severely ill. The veterinarian can prescribe the appropriate medications to get Nova feeling better and being a puppy. Unfortunately there is nothing over the counter to remedy this; however, until you can get her in to be seen you can steam up the bathroom and sit in there with Nova for about 5-10 mins to give her some relief. This will only help give her some relief from the stuffy nose. She ultimately needs to be seen by a vet to clear up things for good. I hope this was helpful and that Nova gets better very soon.

It is not normal for dogs to have chronic nasal congestion at a young age. Would be concerned about upper respiratory infection that might need antibiotics. I would recommend taking Him to a veterinarian to make sure his lungs sound clear.

Hi there. Sneezing could be caused by allergies, or an upper respiratory infection. If he's acting fairly normal otherwise (eating and drinking fine, active, etc.) you could opt to monitor him for now and see how things go for the next few days. The problem may resolve on its own, similar to when we get a minor cold or allergy flare-up. If there is no improvement in the next 2-3 days, or if your pup develops other symptoms such as coughing, thick green or yellow nasal discharge, or begins acting very lethargic or not eating, then I would recommend having him seen by a veterinarian for treatment.
