My dog is suddenly weak, disoriented, won't eat. What should I do?

Hello. If Simba's stomach appears bigger than before and it is hard, you need to get him to a vet immediately as he could have a twisted stomach. Otherwise, if he is drinking more and has weight loss you should have him seen and bloodwork performed. I would have him seen by a vet as soon as possible. Good luck with Simba.

Based on what you have told me, I would advise that you have him evaluated as soon as you can. Sounds like he is very weak and possibly in pain from some problem. If he goes outside, he may have gotten into a fight and has a abscess or infection brewing somewhere. Your vet can evaluate him and then advise tests that would be appropriate to diagnose what is going on. Blood tests, X-Rays, Physical exam and other tests may be needed to determine what is wrong. I sure hope that Simba is able to see a vet and that he starts feeling much better.

First of all DO NOT give Tylenol to Simba as it can be highly toxic to dogs. It sounds as Simba is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

All of those combined sound like a very serious issue that should be seen by a veterinarian in person immediately. Toxicity, neurologic issues, illness, vestibular issues, muscular problems, etc can all be potential causes, so it is best to seek help from a veterinarian in person or a local ER clinic ASAP.

Rio sounds like he is very sick. When pets begin to show evidence of weakness, this indicates that there is severe illness taking place. This could be due to many things including dehydration, low blood sugar, electrolyte imbalance, infection or neurologic disease. It is impossible to know what is happening without a physical exam and blood work. I recommend to have Rio examined by his veterinarian right away. Serious conditions that are treated early are more likely to have a better outcome. Best of luck.

I would recommend that Blaiser be examined by a vet. The symptoms you have mentioned could certainly be behavioral (sudden accidents in the house, only eating when you are near), but the wobbly appearance could indicate an internal medical illness, cancer, or neurologic disease. After a thorough physical exam, the vet may perform a neurologic exam to pick up on any subtle neurologic deficiencies. The vet may also recommend bloodwork to look for anemia, infection, liver or kidney disease, or electrolyte imbalances, all of which could cause symptoms such as you have described.

Levels of creatinine and BUN that are this high indicate a severe kidney disease also called acute renal failure. This can be caused by toxin ingestion e.g. ethylene glycol, infectious disease such as Leptosporosis, loss of blood flow to the kidneys, urine outflow blockage or even neoplasia (less likely given young age). Occasionally renal failure can also occur secondary to GI diseases such as pancreatitis - which would explain the diarrhea. If Simba is not in the hospital right now, he needs to be seen by a veterinarian for immediate medical care. Potassium levels this high could cause his heart to stop. Simba needs to have this potassium level treated immediately and needs to be on aggressive fluid therapy for the kidney disease. Make sure your veterinarian has ruled out all of the possible differentials discussed above. I would also recommend a consult with a boarded internal medicine specialist.
