Why did my dog vomit undigested food hours after eating? Is it bad?

I'm sorry Lizzie has been vomiting. Assuming she is acting normal otherwise, I would recommend holding her off of food for 24hrs. Be sure to provide her with plenty of fresh water so she does not become dehydrated. Hopefully resting her GI tract for a period of time. If she starts acting ill or continues to vomit, she will need to be seen by her veterinarian. I hope this information helps. Good luck to you and Lizzie!

Poor Roxy! I'm concerned that something she ingested could have been toxic or caused something severe like an intestinal obstruction or pancreatitis. I recommend having Roxy examined by a veterinarian right away. She may need X-rays or blood work to ensure she does not need surgery or extensive treatment. If Toby has only thrown up 1 maybe 2 times but is still eating,drinking and playing normally I would continue to monitor his behavior . If at anytime he starts vomiting more, acting lethargic, having diarrhea or not eating I would recommend taking him to a vet as soon as possible. It is possible that Toby ate something he should not or even had a mild upset stomach that caused him to get sick. IF he is acting normally but continues to occasionally vomit I would recommend switching his dog food because sometimes vomiting can be secondary to a food allergy. I hope that helps

I wouldn't worry overly about the fact it was not digested. Dog kibble can take a while to break down as the kibble needs a lot of moisture. Asong as it was a one off event and she does not continue being sick I would not worry.

However, if he continues to vomit, becomes lethargic, stops eating or develops diarrhea, then he will need to see his veterinarian. In this case, fecal testing, bloodwork and x-rays of his belly are diagnostic tests that may be recommended. In the meantime, monitor him closely for any other symptoms. If Shieyah is vomiting and not stopping I would recommend a veterinarian. They can provide a medication to stop the vomiting and make sure it is nothing to be concerned about, like pancreatitis or even a foreign body. If she vomited once. I would withhold food for about 6 hours and rec small multiple meals of boiled chicken and white rice or a prescription bland diet. If she gets worse after this then she needs to see a veterinarian. Dogs can vomit due to many conditions from stress, to ingestion of a foreign body or toxin, eating too quickly, intestinal parasites, or viral infections. If Onyx is acting normally, you can continue to monitor her at home. I recommend holding off food and treats until tomorrow morning, and then giving her only about 1/2 of her normal portion. She should have access to small amounts of water to prevent her from drinking too quickly and causing herself to vomit. She should be seen by a vet as soon as possible if you notice that she doesn't have an appetite or energy, or begins having diarrhea. I hope this helps and that Onyx feels better soon!
