My dog threw up after new food. Should I switch to a lower fat diet?

It's an OK food brand, but it doesn't seem to formulate their foods to tailor the calorie content to the specific life stage of the dog. This is concerning if you want to avoid too much fat, because this food will likely have too much fat. Whether it's grain-free or not will not affect the fat levels. The most important thing on that bag is a tiny bit of writing under the guaranteed analysis called the AAFCO statement. This statement tells you what actual research went into making the product. I recommend Hill’s Science Diet I/D food. You can also consider giving dog-friendly probiotics. If Cosita does not eat, you can offer her some plain boiled chicken and white rice (no bones, skin, or spices) which should be gentle enough on her intestinal tract and low in fat. If Sky has a sensitive stomach, then you will want to transition his diet over a period of at least 5-7 days. In order to do this, you have a few options. The green cow is a tripe formulation that is very rich, so I might wait on adding that to his diet. The turkey should be more gentle, so I would mix 75% of his homemade diet with 25% of the turkey for a couple of days to make sure that his stomach is tolerating the switch. Make sure to add some water and mix it well so he cannot just pick out the turkey. If he does well with that, then you can transition to 50:50 for a couple of days, then 75% turkey and 25% homemade before transitioning completely to the turkey. When adding the green cow, I might do a transition even more slowly and only change 10% of the food at a time. Since both Buster and your pug experienced vomiting after the diet change, it stands to reason that the new diet may be associated with this issue. However, Buster’s ingestion of Mobic (meloxicam) could also be associated with his GI upset. Overdoses of meloxicam can also cause kidney damage, which can also result in lethargy and vomiting. Since Buster is still lethargic, it would be best to take him to his vet for an exam and blood work to check his kidney values. If his vomiting continues, he will also likely need abdominal xrays to determine if an intestinal obstruction is present due to the toy that he ate. After any possible medical issues have been addressed, it may be best to avoid using this particular diet. One very possible cause for the vomiting at this consistency is a food allergy. Try discussing with your vet about getting Jax on a hypoallergenic food or highly digestible food such as Royal Canin Hypoallergenic hydrolyzed protein or Iams Intestinal Health Low Residue. These foods make it easier for the pet to digest leading to fewer vomiting episodes and overall good quality of health.

If she doesn't want to eat that or she continues vomiting she should probably get checked out by a vet since she is an older girl.
