My dog vomits, eats grass, and chews strings. Should I see a vet?

It could be either - some dogs with gastrointestinal disease will eat grass and the occasional vomiting could be a sign of nausea. It’s also possible that this is simply a preference that Otis has. I would recommend having him examined by a vet to make sure there is no concern for a gastrointestinal problem. They might recommend checking blood work as well.

So sorry to hear that Chloe is having this issue. Yes, I think you should be somewhat concerned and a vet visit is always a good idea. There are numerous things that could cause these symptoms. Sounds like her stomach is bothering her....

If she vomits again, has any difficulty pooping (acting constipated) is lethargic, not eating or otherwise acts sick at all, then she needs to go to the vet asap. If she is 100% normal after this, then she may have vomited all the fibers that she ate. Be sure to watch what she is chewing on, puppies get into everything. Good luck, I hope this helps.

If he does not show signs of vomiting or abdominal pain and if he has normal appetite and he is passing normal stools you should monitor him at home. The signs of a foreign body / obstruction in the small intestine include vomiting, abdominal pain, lack of appetite, not passing stools at all. If you see any of these signs, you need to take Gianny to your vets right away.

Poor girl. Her repeated swallowing behavior and eating grass suggest that Snickers is likely nauseous. She may have eaten something that upset her stomach or may even have something caught in her throat. See if you can get her to open her mouth so you can take a peek towards the back of her throat for any foreign objects. IF she does not allow you to do so and otherwise seems fine, just let her rest tonight and get her examined in the morning by your regular vet if the problem continues. I have seen this a lot in dogs that have a stick stuck to the roof of their mouth, so a foreign object is highly suspected here. In most cases, if the pet isn't vomiting and still eating, the problem can be resolved with your vet's help. I hope that your fur baby Snickers gets some relief soon! Best wishes and take care.

I am sorry to hear about Copper. If you believe he vomited most of the toy (for example if you have the toy and can tell most of it is accounted for) and he is energetic/no longer vomiting/not painful in the belly area, then you can try monitoring him. If however, he starts vomiting again, starts acting lethargic, starts acting as though he is painful, or if he doesn't want to eat later today (I wouldn't offer him food for a few hours to let his stomach settle) then these would be signs of a possible obstruction and would be reasons to seek veterinary care.
