My dog ate underwear, now eating grass & has loud stomach noises. Vet?

Hello. If she is eating, drinking & still passing stools, then she may not need surgery. You definitely want to increase her intake of fluids. Supply low sodium broths or stocks for her to drink in addition to her fresh water. Switch to a wet diet & add a moderate amount of additional liquid to this, but not too much. You do not want to dilute the nutritional density of her food too much. Take 2 slices of bread & slather each piece with a layer of Vaseline & try to get her to eat this a piece at a time. If you can get one slice in her now, you can do the second piece later on or this evening. Hopefully this will lubricate her gut & push the rest of the material out of her. But if she stops eating & vomits everything, becomes bloated or shows abdominal pain, you will need to make a decision about her care. Hopefully Nymeria will be ok. There is always a chance for an intestinal obstruction to occur within the first 2-12hrs of ingesting a foreign body, so continue to monitor her for this time frame for any signs of trouble which include: excessive vomiting ( even water), lack of appetite, abdominal pain and severe lethargy. However things are looking good so far, especially since she has eaten and kept it down.

Underwear can get stuck in your dog's GI tract. If it does, that requires surgery to fix. If Maxine ate the underwear less than 2 hours ago, take her to your vet to induce vomiting to try to get it out. If it's been longer than 2 hours, you will need to monitor her for signs such as vomiting, anorexia, diarrhea, and lethargy. Those signs can indicate the underwear is stuck in her GI tract, and she will need to see a vet immediately.

I would monitor her stool to see if there is any evidence of the fabric in her stool. If she is showing any symptoms such as vomiting, lethargy or decreased appetite then I would get her seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible to have abdominal x-rays taken and an exam.

This could be secondary to gastrointestinal upset from many possible reasons such as dietary indiscretion or foreign body ingestion, among many other reasons. If he is otherwise doing well, it is likely to be something mild like dietary indiscretion causing him to have an upset stomach. Keep a close eye on him and make sure he is drinking water. If he does not look improved by tomorrow or gets worse, have him evaluated by your veterinarian. Good luck!

Slowly reintroduce small amounts of water and a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice. If there is no improvement, have him physically examined by your veterinarian.

If Blue is not vomiting or having diarrhea, is eating normally, has a normal energy and no abdominal pain I wouldn't be concerned about the noises. You could try adding a probiotic (available at most pet stores and online) to his food to see if this makes a difference and seek veterinary care if he does start vomiting/diarrhea/lethargy/pain.
