Dog throwing up foamy yellow bile with blood after allergy meds?

I would advise that you have her seen today if the vomiting persists, worsens, or other signs develop. Not sure if the vomiting is related to the allergic reaction but it could be. I would withhold food and water for at least 12 hours and let her stomach/intestinal tract settle down. She can have ice cubes to lick on every few hours is there is no vomiting. Then after a short fast give her a few tablespoons of water and wait for one hour. If she hasn't vomited, then start feeding her really small meals about 1-2 tablespoons every few hours throughout the next 12 hours after the fast. You can try to give the Benadryl but if that makes her vomit, then hold off until her stomach settles down. Again, if the vomiting persists, you will have to have her seen today. When the vomiting does not stop and there is nothing left in the stomach to throw up except bile (a yellow fluid). It is important you take your pet to a veterinarian in these types of cases to get some relief, the vet can give her anti emetic to help stop the vomiting). gastrointestinal signs such as vomiting and diarrhea can be side effects of Apoquel . Also changes in prednisone dose (if there were any?) can have an effect as it is a drug that should not stop abruptly and the tapering of the dose needs to be very slow. So if there was for example a reduction too fast in the prednisone dose that could also cause vomiting as part of Addisonal crisis which is an emergency. Bottom line if she does not stop vomiting or she seems very lethargic and weak in the next hour take her to the emergency vet but if the vomit subside and she gets back to her normal self then go first thing in the morning.

It sounds like she may have an infection in her uterus and needs emergency surgery. It does sound like she may have a flea allergy but I think the vomiting and discharge are unrelated. I it may be a reaction to the medication or there could have been something else alreadybtherr that just didn’t show it self yet such as an infection. If you are displeased with your vet then you can seek a second opinion but i would give the vet a call or schedule a recheck to see if they want to change medications or do blood work to address the vomiting now. Since there is blood in the vomit I would recommend getting him rechecked to make sure it does not continue and he doesn’t get dehydrated from it

It can be hard to work up these types of chronic cases. Food allergies, IBD, and intestinal parasites would be common. Empirical deworming and treating for Giardia is often done, as well as sending out blood for a GI panel. A good trial with a prescription hypoallergenic dog food may also be indicated. Adding in pet probiotics is always a good idea.

Judging from the picture you provided, it appears as though there is blood in the material that was vomited. This could indicate an ulcer or severe gastritis (inflammation of the stomach). Your veterinarian can provide you with the most appropriate prescription medications to help alleviate the vomiting and help relieve any discomfort in the stomach. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Chlyo, this has been a tough week for him I recommend calling your Vet. Maalox is not my first choice to fix diarrhea and vomiting. Doxycycline is an antibiotic notorious for causing tummy upset, regardless if you accidentally gave too much. High doses of steroids can cause tummy upset. Prednisone can not be abruptly stopped and needs to be weaned and in Chlyo's case is likely needed to save his life if he has immune mediated hemolytic anemia. There are other antibiotic choices to rule out tick borne disease causing his immune disease. My recommendations is to call your Vet and have Chlyo seen again today. If he was my patient I would use cerenia, metronidazole and have him on prilosec or famotidine (pepcid). I would not stop or wean the prednisone unless his red blood cell count was normal. I would temporarily stop the doxycycline until he is eating and the stool is better and consider amoxicillin instead. We can not tell you want to do on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach because the laws in the US require a valid Veterinary Clinet Patient Relationship which means we have to actually touch and examine your dog. We can provide advice but your Vet needs to be the one to tell you what to do with the medications. In my opinion, and I have answered a lot of questions from you regarding Chlyo, is that he is a sick dog and he has been dealing with this diarrhea for 1-2 days and is now getting worse.
