Why is my dog still vomiting after vet visit and food change?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Bear! He is probably uncomfortable if he keeps getting up and rearranging himself. With the vomiting it makes me think his belly hurts and he is nauseous and that is why he can't rest comfortably or eat. Possible causes of vomiting, not eating and an uncomfortable belly are: pancreatitis, a foreign body that is stuck, inflammation of the stomach or intestines from viral or bacterial infections or from eating something that doesn't agree with him. I recommend that you take Bear to your Vet as soon as you can. Based on their physical exam they may want to do blood work and X-rays of his belly. You should keep a close eye on him to ensure he doesn’t vomit again. If Bear continues to vomit, develops diarrhea or is not acting quite like himself, he should be seen by his vet as he may require medication and supportive care. In the meantime, I would hold off on giving Bear any food for about 12 hours and then reintroduce his normal diet slowly (about 1/2 his normal serving) I hope this helps and am happy to answer any other questions you may have!

Poor Bear! This could indicate bleeding within his G.I. tract. That could be caused by also's, toxins, some cancers as well as infections. Because bleeding in the G.I. tract can cause severe anemia and even death I recommend Bear be examined by his veterinarian or emergency veterinarian tonight. Do not offer him any food or water or any human medications until he is examined by his veterinarian. You should monitor his gums for paleness as well as his abdomen for any pain or distention.

If he continues to vomit or have accidents though, he will need to see his veterinarian. He likely had the accidents as he was not feeling well earlier this morning. Be sure to offer plenty of water, but if he is otherwise healthy, I would withhold food for about 12 hours. This will rest his GI tract and help to prevent any further vomiting. As you visited the vet today, you need to give it at least 24 hours to see if the treatment has an effect or not, if by tomorrow you do not see any improvement, take Broni back to the vet in order to continue the treatment and potentially change it.

Poor Bear. He sounds sick, and his symptoms could be caused by a systemic illness, infection, or injury. I'm concerned this is going on, and I think it's best you take him into a vet today. To help diagnose what is causing his symptoms, the vet can do a geriatric blood panel and urinalysis. Once a cause is found, the vet can discuss treatment options. I hope this helps!

It is recommended to take LIttle Bear to the veterinarian to be evaluated. There are many different causes of vomiting. He may have a gastrointestinal upset, Pancreatitis, Foreign Body, etc. Your veterinarian will be able to do a complete physical examination and determine if any and what diagnostics are needed.
