My dog stopped vomiting. What food is best for his upset stomach?

I'm glad that Machin is doing better after being so sick! It is recommended to withhold food when a dog is vomiting. I'm not sure when Machin last vomited, but I would wait at least 12 hours from the time he last vomited before feeding him again. I would then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If he starts vomiting again on the bland diet, then I would take him back into the vet.

You could feed boiled chicken breast and cooked white rice and see if she feels better within 24 hours. If she doesn't want to eat that or she continues vomiting she should probably get checked out by a vet since she is an older girl. If she isn't normally bothered by thunderstorms, then it is unlikely that they would cause her to lose her appetite this morning.

For any GI upset, a bland diet (such as white rice and plain boiled white meat chicken) that is easily digestible is a good option. If chicken isn't an option for her, very lean ground beef browned in a skillet with no oil is another good option. If she continues vomiting, doesn't want to eat or otherwise starts acting ill, then I would recommend having her evaluated by her regular veterinarian. Good luck!

If he refuses to eat the bland diet, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. Do not give him any human medications.

Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in Luna's normal diet. If she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. Stop giving her food like carne burritos and bologna. They are not healthy for her and cause GI upset. She doesn't need bread either.

I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. Poor Bruce! The vomiting could be due to the steak but causes are possible. Many times a bland diet can help and then a slow, gradual introduction to the normal food can be done. A bland diet can consist of 25% boiled white meat chicken and 75% boiled white rice. This should all be plain. You may also with hold food for 6-12 hours and offer small amounts of water frequently. If Bruce remains ill after 24 hours, if he is not drinking or if he is getting worse, he needs to be examined by the veterinarian. I hope he starts feeling better quickly!
