My dog vomited and has small poops. When should I see a vet about it?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 2 years and 11 months old | 55 lbs
My dog has been pooping small amounts for a few days and yesterday he vomited twice, both after food. I fed him his normal food and the second vomit he ate and was able to keep down. No fever. Normal behavior. Should I take him in to the vet, if not, What should I do?

I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence.

Poor Yogi! I am really concerned about him and worried that he may be becoming dehydrated. You could try to feed him a small amount of plain boiled boneless, skinless chicken and white rice to see if this settles his tummy. Since he is so small and having so much vomiting and diarrhea, I would have him seen by your vet as soon as your can. Your vet will be able to check his fecal, rule out parvo, and even do blood work or x-rays if needed. Your vet will then be able to come up with the best treatment plan for him and even give him fluids if needed. I hope this helps and he starts to feel better really soon!

Poor Yoshi! Diarrhea since being boarded could absolutely be related to the stress of kenneling or diet change, but could also be related to a gastrointestinal virus or parasites. I'm glad to hear that Yoshi is eating and acting normally! You did the right thing by withholding food since the diarrhea started, but since it has been 24 hours, you can try feeding Yoshi a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken and white rice. Since he weighs 130 pounds, he should eat 13 cups of a 50:50 chicken and rice mixture per day, but divide this into 3-4 smaller meals. I realize this quantity of food always seems huge, but bear in mind that it contains a lot of water and is not as calorically dense as a dry kibble. Offer this diet for 5-7 days and provided that his diarrhea improves, you can begin gradually transitioning him back to his normal diet over another 5-7 days. If at any point, Yoshi starts vomiting, becomes lethargic, or refuses to eat, he should see his vet. Should his diarrhea continue for another 24-48 hours, he should be examined by his vet to check his hydration and determine if any other causes of his diarrhea seem present. I hope that he's feeling better soon!
