My dog vomited, is restless. What should I feed him or give for gas?

Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. For any GI upset, a bland diet (such as white rice and plain boiled white meat chicken) that is easily digestible is a good option. If chicken isn't an option for her, very lean ground beef browned in a skillet with no oil is another good option. If she continues vomiting, doesn't want to eat or otherwise starts acting ill, then I would recommend having her evaluated by her regular veterinarian. Good luck!

I'm sorry to hear that Django hasn't been feeling well! Sudden diet changes can cause acute episodes of gastroenteritis (inflammation in the GI tract), which can lead to vomiting, nausea, and diarrhea. You can try continuing to withhold food for the rest of the day today, then offer small frequent amounts of a bland diet starting tomorrow morning. Feed boiled white meat chicken and white rice (1 cup for every 10 pounds of body weight) for several days if his vomiting and nausea subside. After a few days, gradually mix his normal food in with the bland diet over another 5-7 day period. All of that said, if Django remains lethargic, refuses to drink any water, or experiences profuse vomiting, he should be examined by a vet because he may need fluids or other medications. Poor Bruce! The vomiting could be due to the steak but causes are possible. Many times a bland diet can help and then a slow, gradual introduction to the normal food can be done. A bland diet can consist of 25% boiled white meat chicken and 75% boiled white rice. This should all be plain. You may also with hold food for 6-12 hours and offer small amounts of water frequently. If Bruce remains ill after 24 hours, if he is not drinking or if he is getting worse, he needs to be examined by the veterinarian. I hope he starts feeling better quickly!
