Can an untreated dog UTI cause my dog to limp or have leg pain?

I am sorry to hear about Jack. A urinary tract infection would not cause an enlargement of the spleen, heart, or liver. It would not affect the hips or spine either. The dilute urine could be related to the urinary tract infection. I would recommend an ultrasound of the abdomen and the heart to further evaluate these enlarged organs.

I'm very sorry for your loss. With the lab changes you described, sepsis and cancer certainly were possibilities. A UTI would have to be quite severe to cause sepsis. If you were accustomed to monitoring for signs of a UTI, I highly doubt that you would miss one severe enough to cause sepsis. I am so sorry you lost JenJen. That is always traumatic! Unfortunately it is not possible to tell you why your dog died without a post mortem. There is a possibility that JenJen had kidney failure due to the UTI and that can cause death, however this is speculation without having any further history. I suggest you have JenJen sent to a pathology lab to find out why he died. I am wondering why JenJen was in hospital with a UTI. This does signify that he must have been very ill. Discuss having a post mortem done with your vet. This will hopefully show up the cause of death. Again I feel for you having lost JenJen. I am so sorry.

She may indeed have a UTI, but also a slipped disc in her spine could make urination painful, or bladder stones. Since not being able to urinate can be a life threatening condition and cause kidney damage, it is very important that you take Leeloo to your veterinarian ASAP, ie this is an emergency. Please call your vet now.

I’m sorry to hear this is going on with your dog! A urinary tract infection can certainly make Red lethargic and not feel like himself. The trembling is probably due to her discomfort from the infection. She may also be having a flare up of her back injury as well. It’s hard to say if Red’s kidneys are involved at this point. The only way to know for sure ifnher kidneys are compromised is to run a blood test to check her renal values. This would probably be a good idea to do if you are concerned. I hope this helps. Poor girl. This is concerning that she not only has a UTI but that the bacteria has now entered her bloodstream (sepsis) and is making her ill. Yes your vet will have to see her to get her urine tested first and then prescribe antibiotics to hopefully get her feeling better soon. You cannot get antibiotics prescirbed for your pet without first completing a physical exam. Other possible causes for this include: diabetes, cushing's disease aor even cancer unfortunately. Hello. No, this is not common with UTIs. Either her diagnosis needs to be reevaluated, or her antibiotics are affecting her.
