Can a UTI cause enlarged organs, bad spine, and dilute urine in dogs?

If the urinary infection became sepsis (whole body wide infection) and infected the joint or bones. However this would be very rare, but I suppose possible. Especially if the patient had a compromised immune system to begin with. I have never seen a case where I suspected this scenario in over 20 years in the veterinary field.

I'm very sorry for your loss. With the lab changes you described, sepsis and cancer certainly were possibilities. A UTI would have to be quite severe to cause sepsis. If you were accustomed to monitoring for signs of a UTI, I highly doubt that you would miss one severe enough to cause sepsis. Again, I'm sorry for your loss and hope this helps you to find some closure.

If she is getting recurrent urinary tract infections than she should be checked for bladder stones as dogs with bladder stones typically have recurrent infections. Your vet can take an x-ray or do an ultrasound of her bladder to check for stones. She should also have her kidney values checked and may need to stay on an antibiotic for an exteded period of time. Call your vet and schedule an recheck. Hope she feels better soon!

I am so sorry you lost JenJen. That is always traumatic! Unfortunately it is not possible to tell you why your dog died without a post mortem. There is a possibility that JenJen had kidney failure due to the UTI and that can cause death, however this is speculation without having any further history. I suggest you have JenJen sent to a pathology lab to find out why he died. I am wondering why JenJen was in hospital with a UTI. This does signify that he must have been very ill. Discuss having a post mortem done with your vet. This will hopefully show up the cause of death. Again I feel for you having lost JenJen. I am so sorry.

I’m sorry to hear this is going on with your dog! A urinary tract infection can certainly make Red lethargic and not feel like himself. The trembling is probably due to her discomfort from the infection. She may also be having a flare up of her back injury as well. It’s hard to say if Red’s kidneys are involved at this point. The only way to know for sure ifnher kidneys are compromised is to run a blood test to check her renal values. This would probably be a good idea to do if you are concerned. I hope this helps. Hello, so sorry to hear about Owen. The interactions with your neighbor causing his current clinical signs would be a speculation unless there was obvious trauma to Owen leading to his bleeding. If he has been diagnosed with a UTI as a cause for his bleeding this would be unlikely to have been caused by his abuse. His large prostate is likely associated with his unaltered status. Further diagnostics to consider if his UTI is not responding include a urine culture and abdominal x-rays to check for stones. Once you have confirmed there are no stones within his bladder (this may include also having to check with an ultrasound), then pending his urine culture results, your veterinarian may recommend a different antibiotic for his UTI. Sometimes it can be hard to see organs on x-ray, and an ultrasound is great for visualizing organs. I would not get too worried just yet until you get the results of the ultrasound. I know that's easier said than done, but hang in there!
