My dog has a UTI, on antibiotics. Why is she shaking and can't walk?

The nose being warm and dry is not a sign of illness. A dog's nose can go from wet and cold to warm and dry just by laying next to a heat source or in the sun. Now it is concerning she won't drink water. Feed her canned food and add water to it. I would have her seen by a vet in the morning if she still isn't drinking water. Best of luck.

I’m sorry to hear this is going on with your dog! A urinary tract infection can certainly make Red lethargic and not feel like himself. The trembling is probably due to her discomfort from the infection. She may also be having a flare up of her back injury as well. It’s hard to say if Red’s kidneys are involved at this point. The only way to know for sure ifnher kidneys are compromised is to run a blood test to check her renal values. This would probably be a good idea to do if you are concerned. I hope this helps. Poor Layla. We will commonly see panting associated with pain or discomfort. If she is on antibiotics for a UTI this could be from bladder discomfort if her UTI has not resolved, GI discomfort from the antibiotics or something unrelated. If her clinical signs from her UTI are improved, then it would make it less likely that is causing a problem, but it is still a possibility. It might not be a bad idea to have your veterinarian check another urine sample on her to make sure that her UTI is resolving. That may be the first step in trying to figure out what is going on with her. I would closely monitor her appetite and stools as well. Good luck! A UTI is certainly a possibility, but other concerns such as a kidney infection is also possible. I would encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible. Poor girl. This is concerning that she not only has a UTI but that the bacteria has now entered her bloodstream (sepsis) and is making her ill. Yes your vet will have to see her to get her urine tested first and then prescribe antibiotics to hopefully get her feeling better soon. You cannot get antibiotics prescirbed for your pet without first completing a physical exam. Other possible causes for this include: diabetes, cushing's disease aor even cancer unfortunately. I am so sorry that your pet is having weird episodes of what sounds like a possible seizure and now bloody urine. I am not sure if your vet tested her urine to confirm that she also has a UTI, but I assume that is the case since antibiotics were given. I would be concerned about any underlying imbalances that can lead to seizures such as a liver shunt, so bloodwork analysis would be the next best step for Winter. If she does have an underlying condition like a liver shunt, then this should be treated for in order to manage both her condition and also her seizures. Some pets have idiopathic (no underlying cause) for seizures, but due to her young age, I am highly suspicious of a congenital cause. I hope that you are able to get to the bottom of things soon! I am so sorry Abby is going through this. It sounds like idiopathic vestibular disease. This usually happens in older dogs and they usually resolve well. I would recommend taking Abby to a veterinarian to have them prescribe some medication to help since she may become dizzy and nauseous from it. Some other differentials would be a brain lesion in Abby, but at the veterinarian they would be able to see which one would be more likely with her physical examination. Due to the sudden onset it sounds more vestibular though.
