Are dog treats safe after being left in a hot car for hours?

The glass jar may not seal as well as the original packaging in this case. I doubt that it would cause Chloe any harm to feed her these treats, as they are likely just stale. However, I agree that a general rule of thumb is that treats are best fed when they are fresh and able to be broken.

Canned dog foods usually have preservatives in them to prevent spoiling regardless of temperature. So this should be fine. If it is a refrigerated food then I would be concerned it may have spoiled. Especially if the cans were hot to the touch when you retrieved them.

The medication is supposed to be stored at room temperature but it will likely be okay since it was just a few days. If you notice that it doesn’t seem effective then you could ask your vet for a refill.

Properly stored, they may last about 8-12 months before becoming stale or contaminated. An air tight container in a dry, dark location is best. Freezing may extend shelf life, especially regarding homemade biscuits. I would hesitate to use biscuits that are two years old regardless of storage method.

The temperature within a car can increase expeomtentoally for every minute a dog is inside their life is at risk. The greatest concern is the risk of heatstroke. Heatstroke is a life threatening emergency and any dog experiencing it should be taken to see a veterinarian immediately. Signs of heatstroke include; •shade seeking •difficulty breathing •panting •bright red tongue •weakness •depression •vomiting or diarrhoea •coma •shock With Heatstroke cases the sooner a dog is seen the better the outcome. The vet will cool Whitie, provide shock doses of fluid therapy, provide oxygen, and treat complications such as heart and kidney failure. The psychological affects would be fear, anxiety and pain. All Of which can cause long term damage to the mental health of a dog.

The small amount of garlic powder in these treats is very unlikely enough to cause any problems. I would feel safe giving these to my dog. As with any treat, I would try to limit Isabelle's intake of treats to less than 10% of her daily calorie intake. These (and most) treats are high in calories (20 calories per treat!) so try to give them in small quantities, or even break them up into smaller pieces for training so she thinks she is getting more than she really is.
