Is canned dog food safe after being left outside in Florida heat?

While it's not ideal for your dog to eat canned food that has been sitting out for this long, in my experience it's not likely to cause any serious problems - dogs have very acidic stomach acid, which gives them a greater tolerance for eating rotten or spoiled things. It's possible that Dayz may have an upset stomach (vomiting or diarrhea) from this, but unless the food was visibly moldy, I would not expect her to have any other serious problems. If she has vomiting or diarrhea lasting more than 24 hours, it would be best to have her examined by a vet to make sure that nothing more serious is wrong.

Hi there! Dry food isn't a concern with being left out, it's the wet food that's a problem. In the heat, that can certainly go bad quicker than it would in the summer. It's absolutely fine to put the leftover food back into the dry food container. I leave food out for my cats all the time, I use a self feeder and I haven't had any problems with the food rotting whether it's summer or winter :-)

Anytime you open a wet food I would put the open portion in the fridge. I would recommend covering the food with either a lid (you can get them at the pet store) or plastic wrap. I usually throw all wet food away on the 4th day of it being open. If they don't like the cold food, you can heat in a little bit in he microwave. Just make sure it isn't too hot. I wouldn't worry about it one time if it was in a cool spot as long as Noushmc isn't having any vomiting or diarrhea. I would recommend contacting the manufacturer of the treat. They will have first-hand knowledge of what is in the treats and how stable it is under those conditions. If you are not sure if the treats are safe then I would not feed them to your dog.

The vast majority of canned food is processed and ready to feed - unless the instructions on the can specifically state that it must be cooked then it would be expected to be ready to feed at room temperature

If you keep the tin in the fridge then spoilage is slowed, ie the important nutritional ingredients will not change and the full nutritional value of the food will be retained. You should, however take the food out of the fridge and let it warm up or put it into the microwave for a few seconds, to get it to room temperature to avoid gastro-intestinal problems in your kitty,

Yes, it's fine but you can store it in the fridge only for a short period of time (24-36hr). When you warm the food up make sure is not too hot for Choco.
