Is my dog in pain if his stomach is tight and he hasn't pooped?

If that does not help, I recommend that you have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They can at that point check on that and recommend therapy accordingly. I'm sorry to hear platanito isn't feeling himself. He may be having episodes of stomach or intestinal pain that could cause him to tense his belly the way you are describing. If this is the case it can be caused by eating things that inflame the stomach or pancreas and you can offer him a very bland diet (boiled chicken breast and white rice OR chicken baby food for example) until your appointment with the vet. Another reason they can appear to tense their belly, lay down and be hesitant to move is back pain. If this is the case it's important to keep him very quiet and prevent jumping until his vet evaluates him. I hope he is feeling better very soon.

It is not uncommon in spinal cases to have altered toileting (constipation/difficulty urinating/poor control) - the nerves which control these functions also originate in the spine and can be equally affected, also squatting can be painful in itself. As long as he is able to toilet I would monitor closely over 24-48hours to ensure he is responding to the medication otherwise additional symptomatic treatment may also be required

If she is otherwise acting normal, then I would not be too concerned. It's possible that she simply has some firm feces and constipation with what you're describing. Bruno could be a crytorchid, which means his testicle never descended. It could be in his abdomen. Given that he's not neutered, he could be having prostate problems causing constipation. If his prostate is enlarged, this could give him problems trying to pass feces. I'd take him into the vet in the morning to have this checked out. If he does have a problem with his prostate, neutering is part of the recommended treatment. Best of luck.

It will be very easy for him to become dehydrated from the loose stool. He sounds nauseous by the way you described the lip smacking. I suspect that he is not eating well. He could be painful from gastrointestinal upset or it is common for small breed dogs to experience neck or back pain. While he could be constipated, a lot of dogs with strain with diarrhea only passing a drop or two. So it appears that they are unable to defecate. In the meantime, try to encourage him to drink water and eat if he is interested. I hope this information helps!
