My dog swallowed a small treat whole. Is he okay after eating bread?

A small amount of plain bread should not be harmful. The risk comes if raw dough or bread containing raisins, garlic or onions is eaten. Monitor for lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite or abdominal pain. These are symptoms that should be addressed by your veterinarian.

The good news is there are no ingredients that are toxic, so you don't have to do anything for him. Wow, Ernie at a lot in one day! This could give him an upset stomach from eating this much, so I would monitor him for now. Should he have an upset stomach and starts vomiting or having diarrhea, withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then add back in his normal diet. Next time, I would give him one that is more for his size, and try not to let him eat it so quickly. Easier said than done I imagine :-)

It should dissolve in his stomach but you should monitor for vomiting and diarrhea. If you notice anything abnormal then he should be examined by a vet for treatment. You could buy a Kong toy for him and stuff it with treats. He won't be able to swollow the Kong.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I think Bubba will be fine as long as the rolls were cooked and it wasn't raw bread dough. I would skip dinner tonight and limit water to sips. Feed normally tomorrow. If he ate raw bread dough he would need to go to the emergency room. Good luck!

You should definitley monitor him for any abnormal signs like bloating, vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, or abdominal discomfort. They might pass through with no problem but he could get some gastritis/enteritis from eating so many at once. Have him examined by a vet if you notice anything abnormal.

Given it was a small size, it should pass fine on it's own. I wouldn't take Bentley into the vet now. You can monitor him for signs of obstruction (vomiting, anorexia, lethargy, constipation), but he should be fine :-)
