My dog never sneezes, but just had hard bouts. Should I be concerned?

Frequent sneezes can be caused by many things. If he s having an occasional couple of sneezes throughout the day he could have a minor inhaled allergy. If he is having more little fits of snorting sneezes these could be reverse sneezes - also often caused by inhaled allergens. If either of these are the case and the sneezes become more frequent you could contact your veterinarian for an antihistamine dose. If it is just occasional I wouldn't worry about it too much and I would just monitor. If Sanza is having fits of violent sneezes, he could have inhaled plant material or a foxtail that may be stuck in the nose. If this is the case I would have him evaluated by his veterinarian as soon as possible. If the sneezing progresses to nasal discharge or coughing he may have an upper respiratory infection. In this case I would also have him seen by a veterinarian.

I wouldn't be very concerned with what you are describing. It's likely that the vomiting was unrelated to the recent sneezing and I don't get too concerned about an occasional vomit as long as the dog is otherwise acting normal. The sneezing may be due to something irritating in the environment, or a minor infection. I would check to see if there are any new perfumes, diffusers, or other possible new smells that have been introduced to the household. Poor Lady! I'm sorry that she's been sneezing - but the good news is, it's far more likely that she has a simple respiratory infection vs. something serious or life-threatening. If she's current on her vaccinations and acting normal otherwise, there's virtually no chance that she has distemper - this is mainly a disease of unvaccinated puppies, and affected dogs are extremely sick. Nasal tumors do occur in dogs, but would be statistically unlikely in a fairly young dog like Lady. We worry more about a tumor if there is sneezing that has been going on for weeks or months at a time with no improvement, especially with foul-smelling green or yellow discharge, or bleeding from the nose. I would recommend having her examined by a vet to help determine the problem, and hopefully put your mind at ease. If she does have an infection, your vet can prescribe antibiotics or other medication if needed to treat the problem and make sure that the sneezing resolves.

Poor Piddles! It could be she has allergies and they are acting up, or it could be a sign of a respiratory infection. Without seeing her in person, I cannot say if she is ok or not. If she is otherwise acting normally, eating her food and drinking, and she has no other signs such as a runny nose, discharge from the eyes, a cough, and lethargy, you can watch her for now. There could be something irritating in the environment causing Gohan to sneeze a lot like excess dust, or it could be he is suffering from a respiratory infection. Excessive sneezing like this could be a sign of foreign material in the nasal cavity (sometimes a piece of fluff or plant material can get stuck), or potentially a nasal polyp, tumor or infection. If this extreme sneezing continues I'd recommend having your vet examine Pilsner - they might recommend sedation for a nasal flush and exam.

This sign could be compatible with an upper respiratory tract inflammation/infection or eventually to a persistent rhinitis (inflammatory, allergic, infective).
