My dog doesn't poop every day. Is his soft doughy poop normal?

Pet's info: Dog | Spitz | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 3 months old | 7 lbs

My dog doesn’t poop every day, i walk him 3/4 times a day and still no luck. Some days he poops once a day, some only once im two days. His poop isn’t even hard when he does ot formed but more like a soft dough. Is it normal. He doesn’t have any health issues nor parasites. He hates pumpkin, but eats carrots and zucchini every day for additional fiber to his balanced dog food. Please help.

I don't think you need to worry. It can be normal for a dog to poop every 1-2 days, not necessarily daily. If his stools are formed, that is normal. If they are occasionally a little soft, that can be normal. If they are soft serve texture or softer than that over 50% of the time, I would recommend that you talk to your vet about it. Overall it sounds like Nori is ok! The carrots and zucchini are a fine addition to his balanced dog food, and its ok that he doesn't like pumpkin.

Yes, this sounds perfectly normal. Many dogs only have a bowel movement once a day and some occasionally skip a day between bowel movements. As long as Buddy is eating, drinking and acting normally without straining to have a bowel movement, there is likely no reason for concern. :-)

My dog poops less & has firm then loose stools. Should I be worried?

This doesn't really sound like an issue to me - dogs can sometimes change their behavior patterns when it comes to the frequency of defecation and it doesn't usually mean there's a problem as long as the stool appears normal. It is also quite common for the first stool to be normal and subsequent stools softer, particularly if the dog is exercising. As long as Oakley has a good appetite, is not losing weight, and does not have blood or mucous in his stool you probably don't need to be concerned.

Most dogs only have one bowel movement per day and some only have a bowel movement every other day. As long as a dog is eating, drinking and acting normally, and seems to be having a normal bowel movement without straining, I don’t worry. As puppies grow, their guts mature. Additionally, different diets have different fiber content. Both of these changes can change the frequency of bowel movements. It sounds as though Harley’s bowel movement frequency is completely normal!

Hello. Probably not. Exercise can & will facilitate bowel movements, & the faster stool moves through the bowels, the less water is absorbed making the stools a little softer. Most dogs will poop 1-3 times a day. This lack of pooping may indicate that Renegade is not getting enough fiber in her diet. The diet I recommend is Royal Canin. Most pets on this diet have good stool quality and the bowels move easily.
