Why does my dog keep sneezing many times in a row? Is it allergies?

Hi there and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sneezing can be a sign of an allergy, yes. Sneezes can also be a sign of an upper respiratory infection as well. I would recommended Kaya see her veterinarian for an exam so her vet can determine whether or not she has an infection or whether it is just caused by an allergy and to determine what treatment may be most appropriate. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The good news is that in most cases this is something benign and transient with environmental allergies being the most common cause. Other possible causes include a possible foreign body stuck in the nose or another part of the upper respiratory system. I would recommend that you have Sadie evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. If based on further history and physical examination it seems like allergies are more likely, medications such as Benadryl to be used on an as needed basis would be recommended. If a foreign body is suspected, further imaging such as with a CT scan may be pursued to confirm that. Hopefully, this is not anything serious. Good luck and have a great day!

Diarrhea can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. Sneezing can definitely be due to allergies and that is probably the most common reason. Some medications for allergies can be started for this to be used on an as needed basis. If her diarrhea or sneezing persist, I recommend that you have Irie evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Causes of sneezing can include upper respiratory infection, inflammation of the nasal passages (rhinitis), irritants in the environment such as dust or cleaners, foreign material in the nose, such as a piece of grass or dirt, or even cancer. If the sneezing is happening multiple times a day, I recommend having Nonnie evaluated by your veterinarian at their next available appointment. A reverse sneeze can be caused by irritants in the upper airway region so if there has been an increased amount of dust in the air this could potentially be causing the symptoms you are seeing. An environmental allergy or an upper respiratory infection could also lead to these symptoms. A reverse sneeze should resolve within a short amount of time. However, if it persist or worsens, I would have a veterinarian examine him so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made.
