Why is my dog sneezing a lot with clear fluid from her left nostril?

Poor Daisy! She is an older girl, and unfortunately this sneezing with blood in her snot could be due to a malignant growth (cancer) in her nasal cavity. It could also be due to a foreign body, fungal infection, or respiratory infection. Because this has been ongoing for a while, it's best that Daisy is seen by a vet either today or tomorrow. The vet can do a physical exam, blood tests, urinalysis, x-rays, and may look up her nasal cavity with an endoscope to diagnose what is causing her symptoms. Once a cause is found, the vet can discuss treatment options with you.

Frequent sneezes can be caused by many things. If he s having an occasional couple of sneezes throughout the day he could have a minor inhaled allergy. If he is having more little fits of snorting sneezes these could be reverse sneezes - also often caused by inhaled allergens. If either of these are the case and the sneezes become more frequent you could contact your veterinarian for an antihistamine dose. If it is just occasional I wouldn't worry about it too much and I would just monitor. If Sanza is having fits of violent sneezes, he could have inhaled plant material or a foxtail that may be stuck in the nose. If this is the case I would have him evaluated by his veterinarian as soon as possible. If the sneezing progresses to nasal discharge or coughing he may have an upper respiratory infection. In this case I would also have him seen by a veterinarian.

Other possible causes include a possible foreign body stuck in the nose or another part of the upper respiratory system. I would recommend that you have Sadie evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. If based on further history and physical examination it seems like allergies are more likely, medications such as Benadryl to be used on an as needed basis would be recommended. Diarrhea can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. Sneezing can definitely be due to allergies and that is probably the most common reason. Some medications for allergies can be started for this to be used on an as needed basis. If her diarrhea or sneezing persist, I recommend that you have Irie evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Aww, Nikko is such a cutie! I’m sorry he’s having some sneezing fits lately. Allergies or infections like kennel cough can set them off. So can being near cigarette or marijuana smoke, incense, candles, or having something small (blade of grass/bug) stuck up the nostril. There is not much you can do at home. If it’s non-stop, or happening frequently for more than 24 hours, see your vet to he’ll narrow down the causes and get recommendations for treatment. Best of luck to you and Nikko!

This sign could be compatible with an upper respiratory tract inflammation/infection or eventually to a chronic rhinitis (inflammatory, allergic, infective). Small foreign bodies inside the nostrils can cause these signs as well. A clinical examination at your local veterinarian is essential to confirm these clinical suspicions and treat appropriately.
