My dog is sleeping all the time and has a milky eye. What's wrong?

Sometimes dogs look like this when they are feeling unwell in general, especially if they have a fever. Or, the eyes could be the main problem. She could have scratched the surface of her eyes (this is called corneal ulcers), or possibly an eye infection. Ideally, she needs to be checked out by her vet. They can examine her, and have a close look at her eyes. There a few tests your vet can run on Lily's eyes, to help sort out what the problem is. I hope she feels better soon!

Masie definitely looks uncomfortable. You can certainly try to flush her eye out at home with water or sterile saline. If you have a syringe or a turkey baster, this would be the best instrument with which to accomplish this. If this doesn't seem to help at all and Masie is still keeping her eye half way closed, she should definitely see a veterinarian. If she did in fact have something in her eye, it is possible that it could have scratched the surface of the eye resulting in a corneal ulcer.
