My husky is sick after leg injury and medication. What's wrong?

Poor Lucy! If she's not eating anything it's possible she may be in some pain. If your vet didn't prescribe pain medications, talking with them to see if that is an option may help Lucy feel well enough to eat. If she is on pain medications or other medications, these can sometimes cause some stomach upset. Offering a bland meal of boiled rice and chicken may help with minor tummy upset, however if she continues to refuse food or looks very sad and lethargic, scheduling a recheck with your vet to make sure there isn't anything else ongoing is best.

I recommend to have your pup examined by the veterinarian today. Fevers are unusual in pets and need to be addressed. Most of these pets will benefit from supportive care. I hope this helps and that she starts feeling better quickly.

She may be experiencing abdominal pain from whatever is causing the vomiting. Antibiotics can cause some gastrointestinal upset resulting in vomiting and/or diarrhea, but I do not typically see patients as sick as she seems to be. I hope you are able to get her feeling better. Hello. I am so sorry that Hurshy has been so unwell. There is just so much missing information here & just so much more that can be done to try & discover what his problem is. You really need to find a veterinarian who will do a complete serum chemistry analysis to look at liver & kidney function ( more than just the BUN ), a complete blood count & a comprehensive urinalysis. He needs to be tested for heartworms & have chest x-rays done. I know this sounds like an awful lot, but Hurshy is too young to be so sick for such a long time. Hopefully, with more information, a diagnosis will be made, but I think I would stop the prednisone & I cannot make out what the other items are. Good luck & I hope he is feeling better soon. Those are antibiotics, and as a side effect, can cause GI upset in the form of diarrhea. He may be very aggressive due to feeling badly from the diarrhea. I would call his vet now to let them know the problems you are seeing, as the vet may want to check things out. Be very careful around him yourself so you don't get hurt. Best of luck.

I'm sorry Lucky isn't feeling well. If this has been going on for more than 1 day, then he should be seen by his veterinarian. There are too many causes to list that can make a dog vomit and not eat, but many can be serious. Panting in dogs is often a sign of pain or discomfort. When you take Lucky to the vet, be ready to answer questions about his regular diet, if he has eaten anything abnormal lately, does he chew on items, exposure to poisons or chemicals. As much information as you know about these things can help your vet narrow down possible causes for Lucky's illness. After examining Lucky they will make recommendations for further diagnostic tests such as blood tests or radiographs. I hope Lucky starts feeling better soon.

So sorry that she is having this problem. You should call your vet and give him/her an update. I am concerned that she seems very weak. She could have a bleeding issue and have decreased platelets and/or be anemic. Your vet may need to run some bloodwork to check all her values. She could also have a nasal tumor causing her to have nose bleeds. Please call your vet and have her rechecked.
