My 5-month pug is shaking, vomiting, has diarrhea. What should I do?

My 5 month old pug is shaking very aggressively, throwing up, not eating, and has diarrhea. I don't know what to do. He had his first shot last month. Before that he was fine. Now he just sleeps or lays down all day.

Monty sounds like he is very sick! It sounds like he has only had one round of vaccinations, so he is still susceptible to parvovirus, which can be a life threatening infection. Even if he does not have a parvo infection, vomiting and diarrhea can quickly dehydrate a young puppy. I recommend taking him to your veterinarian. Your veterinarian may want to test for parvovirus. He may need hospitalization and medications to help him feel better. Hope he feels better soon!

Diarrhea and lethargy like Murphy has could be caused by parasites, change in diet, toxin ingestion, infectious viral diseases, blockage in the intestines caused by ingestion of a foreign body, or a mass/growth in the gastrointestinal tract. These is also the possibility of parvovirus infection (a potentially fatal disease that causes gastrointestinal issues such as vomiting and diarrhea) which can be very severe in dogs who have not have been vaccinated. Please make an appointment to have Murphy seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible for diagnosis and treatment, and so that your vet can help get him hydrated in a safe manner. A puppy who is not eating and has diarrhea can develop low blood sugar and dehydration that can be very dangerous if left untreated. You can try boiling some chicken until it is cooked and offering Murphy the broth from it to drink, but he should be seen by a vet asap. I hope Murphy feels better soon!

Hello. If this has been ongoing for several hours & she has vomited multiple times, then I would consider having Kreacher seen by your veterinarian tonight or as soon as possible tomorrow. The biggest concern is dehydration, so you can try to give her a couple of teaspoons of water or broth every hour or so. If she feels like drinking, but vomits afterwards, replace her water with ice cubes to lick on. Absolutely no food until tomorrow. My 3-month puppy has vomiting, diarrhea, and fever. What should I do?

Oh my. Poor guy. If he has a fever this can be caused by a bacterial or viral infection (i.e. Parvovirus if he isn't fully vaccinated). I would have him tested for parvovirus first and if that comes up negative he needs full panel bloodwork and a urinalysis. to fully evaluate him. He should be on antibiotics and fluid therapy to help bring down his fever. He also needs anti-vomit medication to prevent him from becoming dehydrated due to excessive vomiting. If his condition has not improved within 24-48 hrs, then you should consider having him hospitalized so that he can get around the clock care and treatment. Poor guy. I do hope that your pup Shadow is able to make a full and speedy recovery from his illness. For tonight you can try feeding him some slghly warmed up cans of baby food (meat and vegetables or squash) to try to entice him to eat. Only a small amount at a time to hopefully not induce his vomiting. Best wishes and take care.

Vomiting, diarrhea and lethargy are quite concerning in any dog, especially puppies because of the diseases they can get such as parvovirus. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment. They would be able to check for this disease as well as checking for other possibilities such as intestinal worms or other infections. The sooner these diseases are diagnosed the better the outcome tends to be. At the very least, Gus can be started on anti-nausea and anti-diarrhea medications and his hydration status can be checked. 6-month pug not eating, diarrhea, eating wood. What can the vet do?

Poor Rocco! Your vet could do a barium study, abdominal ultrasound, endoscopy, and/or exploratory surgery to help determine the cause of the vomiting. It is very concerning that the anti-vomiting injections are not helping. If your vet is not able to diagnose and treat then you could take him to a veterinary specialist for more advanced diagnostics. Hope he gets better soon!

Why is my 5-month puppy vomiting brown, pooping liquid, not eating?

So sorry to hear that Bubu is not feeling well! Puppies are very prone to intestinal parasites, and depending on which vaccines they have received, viral infections such as parvovirus. Bubu may have also eaten something he should not have which has blocked his intestinal tract or was toxic. He should be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible as he is likely to become dehydrated very quickly as he loses fluids from vomiting and having diarrhea and not eating/drinking. His veterinarian will likely need to run some tests including blood work, a fecal exam, and take x-rays to determine the cause and prescribe medication to treat the condition. I hope Bubu feels better soon!

I'm so sorry to hear that Beax is not feeling well. We always get concerned when puppies do not eat and are vomiting. Adult dogs can go a while without eating, but puppies can get very sick very quickly if they are not eating and are vomiting. I would recommend having Beax seen by a veterinarian today. They will be able to evaluate for any underlying disease, see if she is dehydrated, and give her some anti-nausea medication to make her feel better. Good luck! My Pug has diarrhea, stiff back legs, and is tired. Is it serious?

Poor Frank! This vomiting and diarrhea could be caused by a severe GI illness, eating something rotten, or a foreign body. Lethargy would be an accompaniment of being this ill, while his back legs could be sore from having to squat so frequently to have diarrhea. I would try a home remedy first, but if he still has the same symptoms in the morning, I would take him into the vet for an exam. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If his symptoms worsen in the night, I would take him into an ER vet right away.
