Why does my dog shake, pant, and lose vision after exercise?

These can be symptoms of many serious medical issues, anxiety, fear, pain, neurologic disease, infection, etc. I would recommend that you have him checked out by a vet to see what could be going on. After a thorough physical exam and discussion of his recent history, the vet may recommend diagnostics, such as blood work, x-rays, ultrasound, etc. to diagnose the cause.

Hi there. So sorry that Kage is having this issue. Based on your description it sounds like seizure activity or a pain response (orthopedic pain like arthritis). I suggest you video an episode if it happens again so you can show your vet. Did the vet just examine him or was any testing done? If no blood testing was done that should be the next step. If the blood testing is normal then your vet can prescribe an anti-seizure medication or pain medication (depending on what they think after seeing the video) that will likely help. Hope this helps. Potentially seizures or seizures like episodes can be caused by a variety of causes and certainly lack of oxygenation and heart disease or cardiovascular disease. Heat and increase body temperature can cause seizures as well even though it is quite unlikely (temperature must be persistently quite high). Work up for cardiac diseases must be performed as well to rule out this possibility. I would recommend starting for scratch even if you have already had labs done. I would have a complete blood panel and chemistry panel with thyroid testing preformed. I would test for heartworm disease and tick born diseases. I would also recheck a urine sample and check a blood pressure. Things can change over 2 months so while there may not have been abnormal results then, there may be now. There are many diseases that cause the signs you are seeing so without new labs there is no way you can rule them out for sure. If everything is still normal I would have an abdominal ultrasound done to see what’s going on inside his abdomen. Good luck and kisses to Gunnar!

Pets can have seizures for many reasons including liver disease, electrolyte imbalance, infections, inner ear problems, cancer or epilepsy.
