My dog is shaking, panting, licking lips, and pupils are huge. Poison?

Poor Einstein! yes some form of toxin / poison contact would be my first thought as well. If he has had recent access outside I would be concerned about plant or mushroom ingestion - there are quite a few plants can cause this and it is mushroom/ toadstool season as well. My next thought would be are there any medicines that you or your family take that he may have picked up a pill or licked something that was medicated? Finally some household chemicals including pesticides, ant bait, flea treatments, garden chemicals that also could cause this. Does his fur smell abnormal? I really recommend you take him to the ER vet right away. They will probably suggest calling the animal poison control line (which charges a consult fee but is very valuable information). They may start him on IV fluids to help flush out whatever is causing this effect. If they suspect it's on his fur they may bathe him, they may also treat his vomiting an diarrhea symptoms as well there are some general antidote type medicines that they may consider if appropriate. I hope he recovers quickly.

This is most suspicious of a drug or medication ingestion. It could also be due to some other poison ingestion, or neurologic disease. Considering his current signs it's best to take him to an emergency veterinarian as soon as possible. These are concerning signs of a possible intoxication. Immediate check up is required to treat the signs and reduce as much as possible absorption. Metaldehyde (used in snail poison) and intoxication from a long list of other substances can cause these signs. I am afraid it is impossible to be more specific than that. This sounds like he may have ingested something. Any chance of chocolate, cigarettes, or any prescription or recreational drugs he may have had access to? Do not delay, take him to your veterinarian or to the nearest veterinary ER. If he has been poisoned, he may need supportive care. Blood work may be able to determine if it is a metabolic issue as opposed to poison, but there is no way to test for specific poisons.

I am sorry Dozer isnt behaving like himself. It could be that he got into something toxic while outside or is having an allergic reaction to something so I would recommend taking him to a vet to have him evaluated if the problem persists. I hope he feels better!

I can certainly see how this would be very alarming to witness. The symptoms you describe may be related to a disease process affecting an organ system (more often the neurologic (seizure event) or cardiac (heart event) systems). What i would recommend is a visit to your family veterinarian for a physical exam, to discuss the events, and to discuss additional testing (like bloodwork to rule out organ changes). It is also extremely helpful to get a video of an event so that your vet can watch it. Also, given the age of your pup, make sure there is nothing new in the environment that he could be snacking on that may be toxic to dogs (plants, etc.).
