Why is my dog frantic, panting, and eyes dilated after being outside?

This is most suspicious of a drug, medication, or poison ingestion. It would be good to have a look around the house and see if there is any possibility that he got into prescription medication, or illicit drugs. Certain plants, wild mushrooms and household chemicals (i.e. antifreeze) can also cause toxicity like this. Considering his current signs, it's best to take him to a vet as soon as possible. They can help identify the cause of this and ensure he doesn't have life-threatening complications. I am sorry to hear about Zena. When a dog is continuing to display this behavior we become concerned there could be an internal issue. We can see this when a dog develops a stomach bloat or torsion, or having abdominal pain for another reason. I would recommend getting her into the vet as soon as possible. If her belly looks bloated or enlarged at all it is an absolute emergency.

While panting is a way dogs expel heat, there could be something else going on with him that is making him pant heavily. Panting can be a sign of discomfort or pain. It also can be do to an underlying metabolic problem. I would recommend taking Trouble in to your vet for an exam to see if he needs blood work or potentially pain medication for discomfort.

Based on your description, I would be concerned that Ebony may have gotten into something toxic such as chocolate, or may be having a reaction to some type of medication if she's taking anything currently. Without knowing for sure what is causing her symptoms, the safest course of action would be to have her seen by an emergency vet tonight - in some cases, dogs with these symptoms can have dangerous heart arrhythmias or other problems, which the vet can check for during their exam. Depending on what is found, they may recommend keeping Ebony tonight for observation, or blood work to help diagnose the problem.

Dogs cannot sweat to release heat, so they have to pant to breathe off heat. As long as Lassie can settle down and act normally, eat, drink, etc, he should be OK. I hope this is helpful!

I would recommend bringing her to a veterinarian right away. I am unsure how long she was out but her behavior is very abnormal for her age. I am worried that she ingested something toxic or was traumatically injured. It is hard for me to discern without a physical exam but I would recommend an exam, some bloodwork and maybe even some radiographs depending.

Poor Flea! Given the suddenness of her symptoms, I would be concerned that she may have ingested something toxic. The duck pond could have contained an algae that is toxic to dogs, and she ingested it when drinking from the pond. Without seeing her in person, I can't say this for certain, but it is concerned she is panting and unable to stay still. I would take her into an ER vet or find a vet on call to see her now so that the cause of her symptoms are diagnosed and treated.
