My dog is still shaking after a bath and bug. Should I go to the vet?

You dog may just be anxious/nervous about the new experience. Make sure he is nice and dry so he is not too cold. You may also want to try and distract him with a walk or a game with his favorite toy to help him stop thinking about it. You can see a mild fever after vaccines, and that could be the cause of Jack's shaking. Benadryl will not help with that if he has a fever. Keep an eye on him, and if the shaking continues for more than 24 hours or he develops other signs such as persistent vomiting and diarrhea, hives, swelling of the muzzle, and/or difficulty breathing, take him into a vet immediately. Shaking could be caused by stress, pain, or anxiety. I'd recommend having her seen by a veterinarian for a physical exam. They may have diagnostic recommendations like blood work or xrays to investigate a medical cause.

These symptoms could be caused by a range of issues, including musculoskeletal pain, heart or lung disease, abdominal pain, heat stress or heat stroke, anxiety, impending seizures, etc. I would recommend that you keep a close eye on Bailey for the next 12-24 hours. If he develops additional symptoms, he should be checked out by a vet immediately. If he is just not back to normal within 24 hours, he should also see a vet.

Shaking and panting can also indicate pain. Small breed dogs are prone to neck and/or back pain. This is very common and can make a dog hesitant to walk, jump.or go up stairs. Prior to your appointment, keep him very quiet and carry him if he needs to move. Limiting his movements can help to ease any pain he may be experiencing. Offer water so that he does not become dehydrated. He may not want to eat though if he is nauseous. Do not give any over-the-counter pain medications as these can be be toxic to dogs. You can warm towels in the dryer to wrap him in as most dogs like to be warm. I hope this information helps!

Sudden shaking is usually due to pain, possibly from an internal pain, for example the GI tract. if he stopped for now, you don't have to take him to the vet, just monitor him. if it starts again you will need to have it checked by your vet.
