My dog scratched eye after neuter, e-collar off. What to do?

The first step would be to place an e-collar (cone) on him to prevent further scratching or rubbing. The image shows a collar which is good. Use a warm washcloth to keep the eyes clear. They look inflamed, and possibly infected though. Ideally, he should be rechecked by your veterinarian. If he still has sutures from his neuter, when he returns for suture removal, have the vet check the eyes. He may need medication. There's nothing you can give him at home. Watch Egie for any signs that the eye itself was injured such as squinting, redness to the sclera or excessive tearing. As long as the injury is only on the skin, your pup can probably heal on his own. If the eye itself is injured, havehim examined quickly. Have him wear an elizabethan collar at all times. Until the wound is healed, no more play dates. I am not familiar with Leucillin but as long as it is safe for the eyes, you can apply the ointment for the next 1- 2 days then stop. It could get into his eye, and hurt him. You can use some cool water to clean the area, and then have him seen by a vet in the morning. Ouch! This looks pretty irritated now. Ada could be having an allergic reaction to something, have chronic allergies that are starting for the season, or even have an issue with her immune system. I would recommend putting and e-collar (cone) on her tonight so that she can't rub her face and damage her eye and schedule an appointment for tomorrow with her regular vet. If she can't get comfortable this evening, or you don't have an e-collar, err on the side of caution and take her to an emergency clinic. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Finn! When it comes to eyes it is best to have the pet seen as soon as possible. I do not recommend starting any medications without an exam first. The only thin I recommend you do is to out an E-collar on to prevent Finn from rubbing his eye and causing further harm. You can warm compress the eye twice daily. Be sure you can tolerate the temperature first before putting it on his eye. I hope this helps and I wish Finn the very best!

Eyes are very delicate organs. If there is an injury it is always best to have your vet check it. Eye injuries can go from bad to worse quickly and then you risk losing vision and/or the eye itself. I have not seen the eye so it's hard to give advice. It is up to you though what you want to do. If you want to try something at home you can try this eye gel.
