My dog rubbed her nose raw and seems unwell. Should I see a vet?

It is not uncommon for dogs to traumatize the top of their nose when they are in a kennel or cage and trying to get out. They usually rub a sore on the wire part of the cage. If the wound does not seem to be bothering her, you may be okay waiting to see her regular veterinarian. If she seems uncomfortable or the wound/rash are worsening or spreading, then it may be best to get her in somewhere sooner. If you start to notice that the wound looks infected (pus coming from it), I would bring Wendy in sooner because the worse it gets, the longer it will take to heal. If you have an E-collar (the lamp shade looking device) at home, I would put that on her in the meantime to prevent her from further damaging the area. Hope Wendy heals quickly!

This could be due to an autoimmune disease but it is very hard to say just by looking at a photo. I suggest you have your dog examined by your vet as soon as you can get an appointment. It's not an emergency but sometime in the next couple days would be good.

Any continued abnormal symptoms (longer than 24 hours) warrants a vet exam. I cannot tell you what is wrong with her just by your description. Her symptoms are very vague and could be due to almost any illness. Please get her a vet exam as soon as you can.

Since she has been under the weather for a week or so I think it's a good idea for her to be seen by your vet. She may just be adjusting to her new environment and missing her friends, but any abrupt change in behavior is a good reason for her to be examined. It could signal a developing condition or oncoming illness and by getting her seen now you'll be on top of whatever is happening before it progresses.

I am sorry to hear this. Your pet Meeiah has a very raw area that does not look normal or likely to go away on its own. This can be caused by an immune mediated skin condition (lupus) or an abrasion. I would recommend taking Meeiah to your local vet for a consultation. They may try steroid and antibiotic therapy with him as a conservative treatment or do some skin/blood testing first. A runny nose in a dog can be a sign of an upper respiratory infection or allergies. If Maxine doesn't have any other symptoms, such as a cough or sneezing, I would not be concerned, but it would be a good idea to take her into the vet on Monday to have it checked out.
