My dog's eye is red and her third eyelid is visible. What should I do?

Poor Macy! Without being able to see her eye, I can't say for sure what might be going on. But if she is acting painful and the eye is visibly red or bloody, I would be concerned that she may have injured it somehow in the crate. Eye problems should always be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible, since there can sometimes be permanent damage or vision loss if treatment is delayed - so ideally, I would recommend taking her to an emergency clinic tonight to be seen. If this isn't possible, I would take her to see your regular vet first thing in the morning.

That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. The vet can diagnose what is causing her third eyelid to cover her eye, and can give her medication to treat it. Eyes are delicate structures and can progress rapidly, so I recommend taking Maggie to her vet fairly urgently for evaluation to get to the bottom of things.
