Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, uveitis, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Further therapy would be based on the findings. Good luck and best wishes!

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Tundra. Oh my, that is quite red in the picture, I see what you mean. She may have hyphema, which is blood in the eye. I personally feel any eye problem should be checked out by a vet promptly as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I would take her into a vet now. Best of luck.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!

If the white of the eye (sclera) is red some possible causes are: trauma, allergies, infection, glaucoma, uveitits or a scratch. If Akira is holding the eye closed, excessively blinking the eye or has excessive tearing out of that eye that indicates pain and she should be seen today. Most eye problems should be addressed sooner or later. If it otherwise seems fine you can watch to see how she does.

    Good luck!
