Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Tundra. Oh my, that is quite red in the picture, I see what you mean. She may have hyphema, which is blood in the eye. I personally feel any eye problem should be checked out by a vet promptly as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I would take her into a vet now. Best of luck.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!

If the white of the eye (sclera) is red some possible causes are: trauma, allergies, infection, glaucoma, uveitits or a scratch. If Akira is holding the eye closed, excessively blinking the eye or has excessive tearing out of that eye that indicates pain and she should be seen today. Most eye problems should be addressed sooner or later. If it otherwise seems fine you can watch to see how she does.

However, there are some other diseases that really need a very thorough evaluation of the eye to diagnose. I think that if he has not improved on the current therapy, it may be a good idea to check in with your veterinarian. If they are concerned based on their knowledge of his case, they could consider having you consult with a veterinary ophthalmologist. Why are my dog's eyes red on the white part? What should I do?
