My 3-month lab puppy has a swollen belly, fever, and won't eat. Vet unsure, what's wrong?

From your description, it sounds as though Muffin has a bacterial skin infection and the bumps you are seeing are pustules. If he is lethargic and having diarrhea in addition to the pustules on the skin, I would recommend taking him in to be seen by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Not eating for 3 days is serious for a puppy. They are not able to regulate blood sugar like an adult and they don't have the same reserves either. The swollen belly could be related and could indicate parasites, a blockage, an infection or a heart condition. I recommend to have your puppy examined today by the veterinarian. This sounds like she has intestinal parasites. Young puppies usually have roundworms and often hookworms and can have a swollen stomach as a result. Left untreated they can cause anemia, diarrhea and poor health in a puppy. You can purchase pyrantel dewormer at PetCo. Follow the label directions. I am worried he could have an obstruction or blockage in the gut, and this is fatal without surgery. He could also have a severe gastritis (inflammed gut). I strongly recommend that you get him to a vet as soon as possible. He will likely require x-rays, IV fluids, bloodwork, and possibly surgery. I hope Toga feels better soon!

Oh goodness. I am sorry Junior is so sick. There can be multiple problems causing the signs you are seeing. Intestinal obstruction, pyometra (uterine infection), liver or kidney disease just to name a few. I would highly encourage you to have her evaluated again by your veterinarian. At this point I would say that x-rays and blood work are very important to make a diagnosis. If she is this sick it could be life threatening without proper diagnosis and treatment. Buck could have a parasite or infection causing the vomiting and diarrhea. Your vet can test a stool sample and prescribe medications to treat. He may need a dewormer, antibiotic, anti-vomiting, and/or other medications to help treat. You can also feed a bland diet of boiled chicken and white rice and add a probiotic to see if that helps.

It is very difficult to diagnose him over the internet. If he is weak, he may need IV fluids and medications to make him feel better. Once a vet performs an exam, they will be able to guide you to the next steps in diagnosing and treating his problems.
