What are these irritated red and skin-colored bumps on my dog?

This can be caused by a localized skin infection, an infestation with mites or fleas, or even an allergic reaction. It is likely that these conditions may be causing Hump to be itchy, and she may be having these scabs from scratching. A vet can perform some tests including blood work, and taking some samples from Hump's skin to figure out what is going on and prescribe an appropriate treatment plan. I hope this helps!

It looks like Murphy has collarettes that are typical of pyoderma, a fairly common bacteria skin infection. I recommend scheduling an appointment with your veterinarian for an examination. If it is confirmed to be bacterial, your vet will likely prescribe an antibiotic such as Simplicef along with a probiotic to prevent diarrhea from the antibiotic course, +/- a medicated shampoo such as Malaseb every other day for two weeks. The Benadryl should help if she’s itchy but she needs to see a vet to determine if it’s an infection and get her some oral antibiotics if needed. Good luck and kisses to Baby!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The red bumps looks like a bacterial infection. I would try washing the area with mild soap and water. If they persis for 24 hours I would see a vet for antibiotics. The bump under the skin is very difficult to diagnose. I would recommend having a vet stick a needle in the lump and look at the cells under the microscope. It could just be fat cells (lipoma) but there is no way to know without diagnostics. I would encourage you to check in with your veterinarian to check for this possibility so that therapy can be used accordingly. If it is just an infection, your veterinarian may put her on an anti-microbial shampoo. Best of luck!
