My dog wants raw quail eggs. Are they safe? What about salmonella?

No on the raw eggs. Just like people are not supposed to eat raw eggs. The chances of contracting Salmonella bacteria is very high and that can kill your dog. Not worth it. You can give him cooked eggs if you'd like (no butter, oil or spices). There is really no benefit; it would just be for a treat. All high quality, premium dog foods are balanced (look for the AAFCO statement on the bag) and you really don't need to give extra supplements unless your vet says your dog needs it for some underlying condition. Just feed Diesel a high quality diet like Royal Canin and he will have everything he needs.

Some will tolerate and others will react like this. The AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) does NOT support the use of raw foods for pets. If you want to feed him some eggs or egg yolks, I would lightly cook them and see if he can keep them down. Start with small amounts added to his regular food. Eggs and yolks are great protein and fat sources. Good luck
