My 10-month-old husky is pregnant. Is she too young? Will she be okay?

Ideally, she should not be bred until she is at least 2 years old. This will ensure she is fully develop and able to maintain and whelp a litter. It is likely you will not be able to complete any genetic testing or infectious disease testing on her and any potential stud before she is no longer receptive. A complete exam with your veterinarian if there are concerns about her current growth/condition.

They can continue to get pregnant until they stop having heat cycles, which can be older than you would think. You can also elect to have your male dog neutered within the next several days to eliminate the risk of pregnancy. If Iris becomes pregnant, she is unlikely to have issues giving birth, as most Huskies have pelvic canals which are proportional to their body size, and it is not certain that the puppies will be the exact size of the father (it is more likely that they will be somewhere in the middle). Your vet can also use x-rays and ultrasound to monitor the size of the puppies as Iris comes closer to term and recommend a c-section if necessary. While it isn't recommended to breed a dog on their first heat because they won't be physically or emotionally mature, it doesn't mean that Tanya can't survive her first pregnancy. I would wait three weeks from when she mated, and then take her into your vet. The vet can confirm her pregnancy, and discuss with you things you need to look out for during her pregnancy that can signify problems or times when you need to see a vet. If it is early pregnancy, she can be spayed. Some vets may also carry medication to abort the pregnancy. Having a litter prior to physical maturity can permanently stunt the growth. He may also see issues with the bitch being too immature to care for the puppies. Dogs go through a heat cycle only twice a year or so, so the chances that Rain got pregnant from one incident at the dog park are rather slim. Mating in dogs takes about 20 minutes, and typically involves a "tie" which includes the dogs standing with their rear ends together. If Rain were to be pregnant, 9 months is not too young and she can very well have an absolutely normal pregnancy. I hope this helps and am happy to answer any other questions you may have!
