My 9-month-old husky is in heat. Is she too young to breed?

I would not mate Akira now. It's not recommend to mate a female dog for the first time until her second or third heat. This is because at her first heat, she will not be physically or emotionally mature enough for puppies. I would wait to mate her until she has her second heat. I hope this helps!

They can continue to get pregnant until they stop having heat cycles, which can be older than you would think. Ideally spay can be done at 6 or 7 months of age. It can be done before the first heat but most of the time we ended up doing the operation after the first one. Surgery seems to have a preventive action against mammary gland tumors especially if performed before the first season.

8 months is very young to breed. She is not fully grown yet and breeding her now would stunt her growth. I would wait at least until her second heat, better her third heat.That way her body is fully grown and also mentally she will be grown up and then take good care of her puppies.
