My dog ate a poppy seed muffin 24 hours ago. Is pink stool a concern?

Hi there! I really think Winnie will be fine. Usually, if we see anything at all, it is if there is ingestion of a large quantity of the seeds. These signs could include tremors or stumbling, not walking correctly, or not acting like her normal self. However baked into a muffin there are probably not enough seeds to cause a problem. If you notice Winnie being a little bit off at all, bring her for an examination with her veterinarian, otherwise I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I would not be concerned if Dani only ate one bite of a lemon poppyseed muffin. Please monitor GI upset like vomiting and diarrhea and if these occur you may offer a bland diet of boiled chicken and sweet potato or rice. If vomiting or diarrhea does occur and is severe you may need to have Dani examined to see if medication is needed. Again, I think it's highly unlikely Dani will become sick but do suggest monitoring her for the next day or so to ensure she doesn't get mild stomach upset. Abnormal consistency of a dog's stool can happen for several reasons. If the stool is very dry and there is a higher amount of fiber in the diet, the stools can be powder-like. Some pink tinge could come from mucous lining the colon to help the bowel movements pass. If this is not a common occurrence for your dog, I highly recommend consulting with Harmony's veterinarian to ensure she isn't becoming dehydrated or some other abnormality.

Yes, as she only ate one she'll be fine. She would need to eat much more to make her sick. Please try to keep human food away from Bella as it can give her an upset stomach or diarrhea. Chocolate is the worst toxicity as dogs love chocolate, but grapes or raisins can cause kidney failure so please be careful with those things also. It looks granular, which would be caused by something Bibi has eaten. This could be colored pieces of kibble or things he chewed on that he shouldn't be eating, like pieces of plastic. If Bibi seems otherwise normal (eating and drinking normal, normal activity level), then I think it can wait until Monday to have him checked out. If he isn't acting normal, then he should see a vet this weekend.

It maybe unrelated since it has been so long. This may be an infection or from ingestion if something else. If you juice bloodybdiarrhea, vomiting and lethargy then I would get her seen by a vet for some testing. If it was the one time and she is otherwise normal, I would monitor her for any further changes
