Pink thing in my dog's poop: Is it blood or something he ate?

I think it would be fine to monitor him for now. However, if this turns into diarrhea or there is actual evidence of blood in the feces, have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a great day!

It looks granular, which would be caused by something Bibi has eaten. This could be colored pieces of kibble or things he chewed on that he shouldn't be eating, like pieces of plastic. If Bibi seems otherwise normal (eating and drinking normal, normal activity level), then I think it can wait until Monday to have him checked out. If he isn't acting normal, then he should see a vet this weekend.

Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I can definitely see that Koda's vomit is reddish in color and has some red flecks in it. It is possible that the vomit has blood in it, though I would not expect it to have flecks in it. It is possible that Koda ate something that was red/pink in color that made his vomit this color. However, even the possibility of blood in vomit is cause for concern as this can be caused by stomach ulcers, foreign bodies, or certain toxins. I recommend keeping a very close eye on Koda, and having her examined immediately if this happens again or your believe you are seeing something that looks like frank blood or dark coffee grounds in her vomit. She should also be seen immediately if you think there is a chance that she may have eaten something she shouldn't have or has gotten into human medications. Until she can be seen by a vet tomorrow, I recommend not giving her any food and only offering small amounts of water. There are emergency clinics in most cities that are open 24 hours. You should keep a close eye on him to ensure he doesn’t vomit again. If Bear continues to vomit, develops diarrhea or is not acting quite like himself, he should be seen by his vet as he may require medication and supportive care. In the meantime, I would hold off on giving Bear any food for about 12 hours and then reintroduce his normal diet slowly (about 1/2 his normal serving) I hope this helps and am happy to answer any other questions you may have!

The red steak in the picture may be blood; or I could also be convinced that it is some light red material in the poo. If your dog tends to rip up things like clothes or other non-food items, then I would inspect the poo a little closer. If it is blood, then no need to worry too much at this time. This indicates that Paxi has bleeding in her colon, rectum, or anus. This can happen due to certain infections, or trauma (this can happen if Paxi is scooting) to the anus. However, this bleeding is often transient (often goes away in a day or two) and does not need treatment right away. If she also had diarrhea, then I would be more concerned. If the stools remain a normal shape like this, and Paxi is otherwise behaving normal, then I think it's OK to wait a day or two and see if the red streaks stop. If you continue to see this for more than 24 hours, then I recommend taking Paxi and a poo sample to the vet for examination. I hope that helps and all is well with Paxi.

The drops of blood may be due to a little stress or inflammation in the colon. You can try a bland diet for 3-5 days to see if it helps. If not, have her seen by your vet. You should also submit a stool sample to your veterinarian to rule out intestinal parasites (worms).

Some antibiotics may have this color. Pinkish feces are not normal, but I would recommend to wait and see if the signs are persistent or not.
