My small dog ate poppy seeds. Will she be okay after eating them?

Hi there! I really think Winnie will be fine. Usually, if we see anything at all, it is if there is ingestion of a large quantity of the seeds. These signs could include tremors or stumbling, not walking correctly, or not acting like her normal self. However baked into a muffin there are probably not enough seeds to cause a problem. If you notice Winnie being a little bit off at all, bring her for an examination with her veterinarian, otherwise I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I would not be concerned if Dani only ate one bite of a lemon poppyseed muffin. Please monitor GI upset like vomiting and diarrhea and if these occur you may offer a bland diet of boiled chicken and sweet potato or rice. If vomiting or diarrhea does occur and is severe you may need to have Dani examined to see if medication is needed. Again, I think it's highly unlikely Dani will become sick but do suggest monitoring her for the next day or so to ensure she doesn't get mild stomach upset. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I don’t see anything overtly dangerous in them, though the green tea could have a little caffeine. In general, it probably didn’t hurt Cocoa but it’s not the best choice for a treat. Stick to dog treats in the future- especially if you’re not sure what something is because there are few things that are very dangerous to dogs (xylitol, macadamia nuts to name a few). Sometimes, this can result in gastrointestinal signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, inappetence and/or abdominal pain. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Since Mulan is 75 lbs there is likely not enough chocolate in the cookies to cause toxicity. But that amount of cookies could cause tummy upset or pancreatitis. If Mulan starts vomiting, having diarrhea or won't eat then make an appointment with your Vet. I hope this helps and good luck!

Every dog is different and 1 grape could be toxic to one dog and it could take 100 grapes to cause toxicity to the next. I recommend calling your vet for options to decontaminate Poppy. The ASPCA Poison Control does not show any evidence that poppy seeds are toxic to dogs. Sophia could have developed some upset stomach from eating this muffin, but given that 24 hours have passed without a sign, she should be ok. As for the bright pink in her stool, it's possible that ingredients in the muffin caused this color change, but it could also be blood. Keep an eye on her stool, and if you keep seeing this color in Sophia's stool, then I would have her seen by a vet.
