My adopted dog poops 6-7 times daily. How can I regulate their stool?

Four to five times per day is likely abnormal meaning this particular diet is not agreeing with him. In addition, grain free diets are high in carbohydrates and can lead to weight gain. I would gradually transition him to a new formula over the course of seven days. Then keep track of his bowel movements to see if you are making progress. You can consider a large breed formula or one labeled for sensitive stomachs to start. If you are not making progress, then I would try a prescription low fat diet. I hope this information helps!

Producing what seems like a lot of stool is not likely due to eating too much. A dogfood that is high in fiber or filler will generally cause more stool production. There is a brand called Royal Canin that is really high quality and low residue and most dogs will have a decrease in stool production. I recommend to try this diet. For example, it may be that she is eating a diet that is high in protein and low in fiber for instance. This could be easily fixed by feeding her a diet that is higher in fiber. I would recommend switching to a different food altogether like Science Diet or switch to a different puppy formula of Royal Canin that has less fiber. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Buzoo is adorable! Puppies do defecated a little more frequently than adult dogs, typically up to 4-5 times in a day. Sometimes puppies will defecate more frequently if they are excited. I recommend keeping a close eye on Buzoo's bowel movements - he should be seen by a vet if you notice that the stool is loose, has mucus or blood in it, or begins vomiting. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Both stools are normal. One isn't better than the other. Different foods can cause the stool to be slightly different colors. I would choose the food that he likes the best. Personally the first picture is an ideal stool, so that would be a good choice! I hope this helps and good luck!
